For Oliver Frusa, Event #61 of the 2025 World Series of Poker—a $500 No-Limit Hold’em Freezeout—proved to be a short but eventful chapter in his poker journey. Oliver won the 2025 Misfits Invitational and received a $300 Entry into the WSOP Gladiator Tournament. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to play the Gladiator. However, he was able to use that $300 entry toward the $500 Freezeout, paying the difference, of course and taking a shot at WSOP glory.

The tournament kicked off on June 23 at 10:00 a.m., and while Oliver came in prepared and focused, the cards told a different story.
On the very first hand, he flopped a promising set of jacks on a board of A-J-9. However, a queen on the turn completed a straight for his opponent, who held K-10. That brutal cooler cost Oliver 7,000 in chips right out of the gate.
Things didn't improve from there. After grinding through a mostly card-dead stretch, he eventually found a spot to shove with pocket kings pre-flop.
Unfortunately, he ran into a tough beat—his opponent's pocket eights spiked a set on the flop, leaving Oliver with just 3,000 chips. Not long after, his run came to an end.

Reflecting on the experience, Oliver expressed gratitude for the opportunity but admitted it was frustrating. “Just wish I had more opportunities,” he said, noting how few playable hands he saw throughout the session. “Card dead for most of the time… hopefully Sam can do good.”
Sam, his friend, fellow competitor, and Misfits league member, didn’t fare much better—flopping a set on the first hand himself, only to lose to a flush. The bad beats were relentless, but both players took it in stride, showing respect for the game and hope for future chances.
Tournaments like this can be unforgiving. But for Oliver, this WSOP experience—though short-lived—was another valuable step in the long game of poker.
Congratulations, Oliver, regardless of the result, the entire Misfits Family is proud of how you represented yourself and the League at the World Series of Poker! We look forward to seeing you on the tables in the future!
