We Have a Winner!!

On Sunday, November 23, 49 players converged on The Bonfire to support a worthy cause.

5 full tables, with shenanigans to be had. It was a full four-and-a-half hour event that involved a high hand, First-Out, suck-outs, and bad beats galore. We also just had a great time, enjoying each others company and laughing to whole way though. We also kicked off our annual toy drive by collecting over 50 toys and $405 for Toys for Tots. We will be continuing our toy drive at all Misfits locations. You can get all the information here:

There's a few people that I really need to thank that made this entire tournament possible.

I would like to thank Dan Stepanian for stepping in as Tournament Director and all of our wonderful dealers. Peter Cho, Karen Bryant, Richmond Flores, Randy LeBlanc, and Jeanie Ekler. These people were instrumental in making this tournament the success that it was. From moving, loading & unloading equipment, setting up the venue, ensuring chip stacks are correct, to running the game, plus any other tasks I ask of them, and doing all of it with a cheerful smile. Without them, NONE of this is possible. I can't express my gratitude enough. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Special shout out to Randy LeBlanc, Aaron LeBlanc, and Jeanie Elker for helping haul tables and chairs back and forth. Your willingess to help, really does make a difference.

I'd also like to thank Michelle for tending bar and taking great care to ensure our drinks were never empty, Kitchen Manager, Mario, for coming in 2 hours early and offering us a wonderful brunch menu. Last but certainly not least, to the owner of The Bonfire, PJ Brazier, who has always welcomed us and ensured that we have everything we need to smoothly run these larger tournaments.

To Rob and Dawn Isacoff, the owners of the Misfits Poker League. Thank you for your continued support of Misfits Poker and it's members here in Las Vegas. I am personally grateful of the support and encouragement you provide to me as I navigate the many ups and downs of the day to day operation of the league. None of this would be possible without both of you...Thank you.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE PLAYERS WHO SHOWED UP, PLAYED, AND SUPPORTED A GREAT CAUSE. YOU ARE WHAT MAKES THIS LEAGUE GREAT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND DEDICATION.

Without further ado...here are the results!

Congratulations to Ken Wilhelm. He just couldn't be stopped. From the very start he was playing hard, catching cards, and dragging pots. A well deserved win for a well deserving guy. Ken takes home the Championship Trophy and a 3-way chop of $259. Way to go Ken!

Second place goes to none other than Jose Navarro. Jose has been with the league for 5 months and has flourished and is one of the most-liked players in the league. He's always a joy to have at the table. Jose takes home the 2nd Place Trophy and a 3-way chop of $258. Congratulations on a job well done!

Third place goes to someone who is no stranger to success here in Misfits. Our very own Tipsy Talker, Sean Hayward. His sense of humor and ability to make the right call when called upon is second to none. Sean takes home the 3rd Place Trophy and a 3-way chop of $258. Congratulations and well played, Sean!

The player who was the first out received a bonus card worth 500 chips at the venue of their choice. It was early on in the tournament and John Spiessbach was facing an All-In bet on the turn for his tournament life holding pocket kings. He flopped a set, and not knowing that his opponent turned a straight, he called the All-In. With one card to come and limited outs, he fell short and was felted from the tournament. Such an unfortunate turn of events for John (no pun intended), but at least he came away with something to show for it.
