Today is a great day!
From November 7-21, 2025 the Misfits Poker League held an imprompto food drive in light of the November 1st SNAP deficiency.
First and foremost, I would like to take a moment and thank Jacob Karnowski for his thoughful recommendation and encouragement to have this food drive and help others during this holiday season. Jacob has been and continues to be a valued member of the Misfits family, and despite the way he plays poker, he is a generous and thoughtful man that puts others needs before his own.
Thank you Jacob for setting a wonderful example of what it means to be a true Misfit. Myself and the entire Misfits family appreciates your efforts and kindness.
Today, Tuesday, November 25, 2025, I had the priviledge of visiting with Heather Hadfield, a Philathopy Project Specialist with Three Square. I was able to present her with $1200 cash and two large boxes of food that the Misfits Family was able to raise over the two-week donation period.
Three Square is an organization that has been open since 2007, providing over 41 million meals in Southern Nevada in 2024 alone. You can learn more about Three Square and their initiatives here.
Great Fact: Three Square, due to their immense purchasing power, is able to provide 3 meals for every $1 donated.
Fantastic Fact: I was very excited to learn that during the holiday season, starting November 1st through December 31st, Three Square with their partner Feeding America are able to provide 6 meals for every $1 donated!!!!
That means that the $1200 that the Misfits members donated will create 7200 meals for those facing food insecurity this holiday season and beyond!
That's any of the following possibilities:
Providing 6 families of 4, 3 meals/day for 100 days.
Providing 12 Veterans and their spouse, 3 meals/day for 100 days.
Providing 24 Elderly individuals, 3 meals/day for 100 days
You can and do make a difference to many people in our community. Keep in mind, many of these folks only need help for 30 days, which makes your donations go that much further.
I've been there, and I'm sure you or someone you know has had to ask for help due to food insecurity. It's not a pleasant experience, but they, as well as myself, were able to work through those tough times and I'm grateful that I'm in a position now to give back. With your generosity and kindness you have helped those who need it, not only during the holiday season, but thoughout the entire year.
Once again, thank you to everyone who donated during this event. Your donations make a difference in our community. Your donations make me proud to be a member of the Misfits Family and to have and know all of you as a friend.
